We actively support the Roofing Industry's drive towards a fully qualified workforce by developing courses that meet the demands of the industry.<br /> <br /> Membership of the NERTG costs only £15 per year and it is hoped that members will undertake an annual training plan. By pooling their resources of employees, members can benefit from reduced course fees and courses sepcific to the needs of the Roofing Industry.<br /> <br /> The NERTG is non-proft making and holds regular meetings, with a variety of organisations attending to give presentations on industry related topics. These meetings also provide members with the opportunity to discuss any concerns they may have within the Roofin Sector.<br /> <br /> A library of training material is available for members in-house training needs, available upon request.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <hr/>Group Profile<br /> <br /> The North East Roofing Training Group was formed in 2001 to encourage Roofing Companies to train their operatives to the highest calibre.<br /> <br /> The NERTG currently has 52 members throughout the North East, spanning from Middlesbrough to Blyth.<br /> <br /> The NERTG is led by a Committee, who meet every quater to discuss future ventures for the group. A Training Co-ordinator is employed on a part time basis to look after the training needs of all members.<br /> <br /> The group has close links with Newcastle College who offer NVQ's in both Sheeting & Cladding and Slating& Tiling.<br /> <br /> We also support the work of Education Business Connections and attend many of their career events to promote the variety of jobs available within the construction industry.<br /> <br /> <br /> <hr/>Newcastle College<br /> <br /> In the early days of the NERTG, Sheeting & Cladding members raised their concerns over the lack of facilities in the area to train their apprentices, and were having to senf them to either Birmingham or Glasgow. As a result of demand from members, a Rig was constructed in November 2004 to provide Roof Sheeting & Cladding NVQ's in the North East. This was housed at Newcastle College, where students were also able to study for Slating & Tiling.<br /> <br /> In September 2005, both the Sheeting & Cladding and Slating & Tiling Rigs were moved to a new site in Walker, along with all other construction training. The new Construction Academy also houses state of the art classrom facilities for the students.<br /> <br /> The college began to run an ICA course in Sheeting & Cladding, giving those out of work the opportunity to learn the practical side of the trade.
